Hello true believers,
Dr. Kish, The Movie Guy here with another look at the wild and wacky world of movies.
Our top story takes deep into the heart of Bangkok where three rather foolish Americans are stumbling around half drunk. Our feisty reporter Viz Vixen is on the scene with this story.
Viz: So, gentlemen, what exactly happened?
Bradley: It happened again!
Zach: Honestly, I didn't do it this time!
Ed: Sure you didn't Alan, we woke up with no memories, again!
Viz: So, you are saying this has happened before?
Ed: Yes, it happened it Vegas. But what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. It's not supposed to happen in friggin' Bangkok!
Viz: (turning to the camera) There you have it folks. A worldwide bird flu epidemic is sweeping the globe. Our fellow Americans have succumbed to this paralyzing and demoralizing disease.
Bradley: (whispering to Zach) Did you dose that chick, too?
THE HANGOVER PART 2 took over the globe on the U.S. Memorial Day weekend. The drunken mishap comedy rocketed to more than $135 million, eclipsing its budget of $80 million in the process. I’m not sure how the city of Bangkok feels about how the movie is depicted in the movie, but having been there on a couple occasions I can say it's one seriously messed up place.
Coming in second was the fists of fury in the shape of rather huge furry paws with KUNG FU PANDA 2. Po and friends smashed through the $65 million mark. This second film in a planned six-film anthology also ends with a cliffhanger, which will have the kiddies begging for more. The only thing new we learn about the paunchy panda is that he's adopted. Well, duh, his dad is a goose! His bird issues don't end there as an albino peacock comes out of his past to takeover China. Sigh, hope part three is better.
PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES came in third as it hauled in almost half a billion dollars overseas. Those people love them some Johnny Depp! The movie made $50 million in North America over the weekend pushing it past the $160 million mark. Can Captain Jack number five be that far away?
With $20.7 million this weekend BRIDESMAIDS holds its own and as it nears $90 million it also holds the fourth slot with. This satin and lace bridal-attire fueled film will probably pop a seam in its wedding gown in the weeks to come as it hits the $100 million mark.
Rounding out the top five is the thunder God with $12.8 million. THOR has ruptured the $400 million mark and has a chance of hitting close to half a billion dollar mark before it leaves theatres. Not too shabby for a guy who's only claim to fame is flinging a hammer!
OK, I am outta here! See you peeps, next time!
